PTSG to install sprinklers in a variety of London addresses

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) is forging ahead with its Fire Solutions division, with a number of new sprinkler installations contracts in London and the South East.

Fire safety systems, which both detect and suppress fires, are now a requirement in buildings of all kinds. Sprinklers are proven to deluge fires before they can spread out of control. To date, no one has ever died in a fire with a sprinkler system in the household.

PTSG has been contracted for the installation of sprinklers at the following:

o Friars Primary Foundation – a Hazard 1 installation to protect the entirety of the school’s buildings, with systems fed from a pump and a tank;
o London Trocadero – a contract to install sprinklers in the basement areas of the entertainment complex, which is located close to Piccadilly Circus.
o Contracts to install residential sprinklers at four different addresses including Woodstock Studios – a complex in the former BBC studios on Woodstock Grove, immortalised in the 1979 adaptation of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy, starring Alec Guiness.

PTSG welcomes Scottish fire safety consultation

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) supports the Scottish government’s public consultation focused on the safety of people living in high-rise flats – announced yesterday.

The consultation comes as part of the Scottish government’s response to the Grenfell Tower fire in London in 2017. It calls for views on how to simplify the guidance available to everyone who lives in high-rise flats or is responsible for fire safety in high-rise flats.

The consultation also seeks views on proposals for a public information campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of leaving rubbish or unwanted items in common areas within high-rises.

PTSG provides a range of specialist services that keep buildings and users safe. PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd is one of the company’s largest divisions.

The Grenfell Tower tragedy of 2017 prompted a call for more stringent fire safety measures in buildings over a certain size – a call which was quickly answered by a number of councils in London alone, with more following throughout the UK.

Fire prevention and suppression systems are vital for the safety of those who live in and use buildings over a certain size. Sprinklers are proven to suppress fires before they become uncontrollable and to date, no one has died in a household fire where a sprinkler system was fitted. However, the public consultation by the Scottish government calls for simplifying the guidance for residents of high-rise buildings as well as public information on the dangers within such buildings – measures which could help to prevent fires occurring in the first place. This, in combination with the kind of fire solutions delivered by PTSG, could reduce or ideally eliminate the danger of fire in high-rise buildings.

PTSG provides fire solutions for London MET

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) is working with the London Metropolitan Police force to provide a number of crucial services from its Fire Solutions division.

Headquartered in Castleford, West Yorkshire, PTSG has 31 office locations; for this new contract, engineers from its Maidstone office will be renewing existing alarm valves and pipework for one of the MET Police’s many sites.

The Metropolitan Police Service, known informally as “The MET”, gave rise to the nickname of “bobbies” for its officers, as it was founded by Sir Robert Peel in 1829. It enforces the law in the 32 London boroughs, as well as having other, unique responsibilities including co-ordinating and leading UK anti-terrorism matters and protecting the Royal Family.

PTSG is becoming a trusted and popular name in providing of all kinds of fire solutions, both within the capital and throughout the UK. PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd. complements its three other business divisions; as a Group, PTSG often delivers the complete special services package for customers in many different sectors.

PTSG goes underground for Fire Solutions contract

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) is currently working on a hydrant testing contract for London Underground.

Hydrant testing is one of the growing number of services offered by PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd. PTSG offers the full range of hydrant testing services including visual inspection, wet pressure testing, static pressure testing and flow testing, ensuring hydrants operate at optimal efficiency.

London Underground is one of a number of big-name clients for the London office of PTSG’s Fire Solutions division. Its engineers have recently won contracts to install sprinkler systems at the London Trocadero and Woodstock Studios – the former BBC studios which produced the classic adaptation of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy in 1979.

London Underground is, of course, one of the world’s most iconic transport systems. There are 270 stations within the system, the deepest of which (Hampstead on the Northern Line) is nearly 200 feet below street level. The Elizabeth Line (also known as Crossrail) is the latest addition to the system, running from Reading through to Shenfield. It is scheduled to be open in autumn 2019.

PTSG is proud to be making a small but vital contribution to the safe upkeep of London Underground.

Historic church puts its Trust in PTSG

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has been contracted by the National Trust to provide vital electrical services at its historic Staunton Harold Church in Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

Built for Sir Robert Shirley between 1653 and 1655 in Gothic style, Staunton Harold Church is one of the few churches built between the outbreak of the English Civil War and the Restoration period. It is one of the least modernised churches of its time; however, the National Trust has embarked on a project to restore the church and rescue it from decline.

PTSG’s electrical services engineers will be improving and adding to the existing lightning protection system at the church. In addition, they will be installing surge protection. The Group has been contracted on a number of occasions by the National Trust, whose restoration project managers appreciate PTSG’s methods and understanding of what is needed on such a structure.

Previously for the National Trust, PTSG installed discrete lightning protection systems to Berrington Hall in Herefordshire. Before this, its engineers carried out fixed wire testing at 23 National Trust sites in Cumbria including the Beatrix Potter Gallery, Dalton Castle and Wordsworth House and Garden.

PTSG nears completion on major high-level contract in Lincoln

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) is nearing completion of a contract to improve Lincoln’s Waterside Shopping Centre, through high-level works.

Engineers from PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd. began working on the contract in the summer of 2018. They have performed a series of repair works and redecoration to the façade render of the centre using a variety of access techniques including abseiling, mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) and scaffolding.

Waterside Shopping Centre is situated in the centre of Lincoln, by the River Witham. Opened in 1992, it continues to thrive and be a vital part of Lincoln’s economy. Restricted access presented challenges for the team at times, but PTSG’s experienced engineers overcame these through the variety of techniques and equipment at their disposal.

PTSG has been trusted to deliver niche services for some of the UK’s most prestigious buildings. A recent project involving PTSG Building Access Specialist Ltd’s engineers saw its team carry out vital repairs to the Balmoral Hotel. Bordered by the Waverley Shopping Mall and Edinburgh Waverley Station, as well as being on one of the city’s busiest thoroughfares, engineers successfully scaled the heights of the building to complete emergency repairs to the stonework as well as painting over 500 windows.

PTSG wins two electrical services contracts in the north east

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has been awarded two substantial electrical services contracts with different companies in the north east of England.

The intu Metrocentre, located in Dunstan, Gateshead, is the UK’s second largest shopping centre, with more than 370 shops occupying 200,000m² of retail floor space. Engineers from PTSG’s Electrical Services division have one a one-year contract, expected to be repeated for a further four years, to carry out fixed wire inspection and testing.

The same services will be carried out on a very different site in Barnard Castle, for GlaxoSmithKline. The pharmaceuticals giant has contracted PTSG for one year, again with the expectation to repeat its electrical testing for a further four years at its Teesside factory, which employs 1,100 people.

Electrical testing, ensuring compliance with the latest regulations, comprises a significant amount of PTSG’s specialist work. Its recent acquisition of Guardian Electrical Compliance has greatly enhanced the Group’s strong presence in the electrical safety services market.

It’s full speed ahead for PTSG’s Electrical Services

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has been contracted to provide electrical services for automotive giant Jaguar Land Rover at a number of different sites.

At Castle Bromwich, the company’s Birmingham-based factory, PTSG Electrical Services Ltd. has a one-year contract to carry out fixed wire testing and inspection. At Jaguar Land Rover’s non-production sites at Gaydon and Fen End in Warwickshire, and Whitley in Coventry, PTSG has won further one-year contracts for fixed wire testing and inspection, which are expected to continue for another two years.

The Group has built a strong working relationship with Jaguar Land Rover. Between 2016 and 2018 engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd. worked on the design and installation of a lightning protection and earthing system at the Gaydon design and engineering centre.

A great many big brands have come to trust PTSG for the high-quality specialist services it delivers – not just electrical services. For example, the Group was originally commissioned by Marks and Spencer PLC to carry out fall arrest testing at a handful of its stores. This was extended to include cradle maintenance, lightning protection and fall arrest across more than 400 M&S stores nationwide. This bundled service provision is one of the distinguishing features of PTSG and has been instrumental in its continuing success.
