Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has completed building access solution following an emergency call-out from a customer.

A glass panel had fallen to the ground of a main street of one of Scotland’s main cities PTSG immediately mobilised a full steeplejack and rope access team to the site. After assessing the situation, it was clear that due to the high volume of traffic in the immediate area, traditional scaffolding could not be erected from the ground and a mobile elevating work platforms (MEWP) was not a viable option either.

A bespoke scaffold design was immediately created to erect a cantilever scaffolding to the perimeter of the building at the top, to form a working deck to provide direct access to the defective area and make safe all of the glass panels.

This work was completed within seven days, without placing any restrictions on the public or traffic. The scaffolding was then demobilised by PTSG’s steeplejacks and rope access engineers.

On completion of the project, a cost analysis was carried out in collaboration with the client to determine the effectiveness of the bespoke specialist access systems used compared with traditional methods. It was calculated that PTSG delivered a cost saving of 58% to the delight of the client.
