Towards the end of September, the construction of the new home for the London College of Fashion (part of the University of the Arts London) concluded at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The UK’s newest cultural quarter, developed by the London Legacy Development Corporation, is based at East Bank. The building has made the most of modern methods of construction and eye-catching design to create an iconic structure befitting of its purpose.

Michael J Lonsdale provided project and construction management services on this impressive new facility. This includes overseeing the creation of the state-of-the-art campus which supports 6,500 students. The facility houses a world-leading research community, business incubation and social enterprise centre. Other features in the facility are public open spaces, galleries, libraries and archives.

Engineers from MP Fire Protection, a constituent company of Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG), built strong relationships with Michael J Lonsdale and Mace to provide sprinklers, dry risers and wet risers at the new college campus. This forms part of total fire solutions strategy to keep building and users safe in the event of a fire.

PTSG is one of the UK’s leading providers of fire solutions. Apart from delivering fire suppressions systems and equipment, its engineers also provide passive fire services and security solutions. This includes support services and maintenance. PTSG also offers general advice to help dutyholders understand their compliance obligations.
