Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has completed a specialist electrical services contract at one of the world’s most historic golf courses in St Andrews.

The Old Course at St Andrews is considered by many to be the “home of golf”. This is because the sport was first played on the links at St Andrews in the early 15th century. Golf was becoming increasingly popular in Scotland until James II of Scotland banned the game in 1457. The king felt that young men were playing too much golf instead of practising their archery. The ban was upheld by James III. It remained in force until 1502, when James IV became a golfer himself and removed the ban.

It is a public course over common land in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. The course is held in trust by the St Andrews Links Trust under an act of Parliament.

Engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd completed a test and inspection of the lightning protection system at the historic clubhouse. Such work is required annually to ensure it remains compliant with industry regulations. Any remedial work can also be carried out by PTSG’s engineers to ensure systems remain fully operational and able to protect structures and users.
