Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to provide specialist lightning protection services for new developments to the campus of Kingston University.

Over 16,000 students attend this public research university, which gained full university status in 1992. Before this it was known as Kingston Polytechnic.

Over the last 10 years, the university has invested in its estate and over the next 10 years hopes to continue to improve and transform its campuses by providing an even better teaching and learning experience, and upgraded facilities for students, staff and the local community.

Penrhyn Road is the main university campus, located close to Kingston town centre. This is where the Town House building was opened in January 2020 – a flagship six-storey building designed by RIBA) Gold Medal-winning firm Grafton Architects.

Engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd will install a brand-new lightning protection at this new development, protecting both the building and its users in the event of an electrical storm.

This latest project adds to PTSG’s large portfolio of assets in the education sector. The universities of Northampton and Reading, and a new student accommodation development in Surrey, are just a few of the projects which PTSG’s electrical engineers have worked on in the last few weeks, installing, testing and inspecting lightning protection systems.
