While Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge was the overall winner of this year’s London Marathon in an incredible 2:01:39 hours, Darren King of Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) completed the race in an equally impressive 2:36:02, making him first in his age range (50-54).

Darren is an inspector in the field at PTSG’s specialist electrical compliance office in Sheffield. The 2019 London Marathon saw a record 414,168 people apply. The “Good for Age” qualifying time for the 50-54 age range is 3:15. Darren came under that target by a phenomenal 39 minutes to come first.

Also in 2019, on 7th July, Darren came first in his age group in the Ashbourne Half Marathon with a time of 1:19:52, finishing 9th in a field of 362 runners.

PTSG is establishing a reputation as having some of the best athletes in the facilities management sector! Earlier this year, Richard Castle-Smith, Head of Fire Suppression at Trinity Fire & Security Systems – acquired by PTSG in January 2019 – showed tremendous mettle by completing the 312km Mallorca ultra-cycling race, climbing 16,500 feet across the mountains in a time that far exceeded his expectations. That’s a distance and an ascent that would daunt most motorists, let alone cyclists, but Richard completed the event and raised over £4,500 for Brain Tumour Research.
