Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialist electrical services at Thurston Community College.

This is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form in Suffolk. It was constructed in the 1970s and now has over 1,700 students aged 11-18. Facilities include a community library and an Air Training Corps building. The college’s five houses are names after famous British people with Suffolk connections, including Thomas Gainsborough, Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, Thomas Wolsey and Roger Penrose.

The college, which comprises two main blocks, has undergone a two-phase programme of building development, including a new roof. Two of PTSG’s electrical services engineers will be installing a brand-new level 2 lightning protection system on both blocks, which includes 62 down conductors. A project of this size and nature typically takes two-three weeks to complete.

PTSG is the UK’s leading provider of lightning protection services. Its engineers provide bespoke and standards lightning protection systems, as well as surge protection systems, plus specialist earthing solutions. They also perform periodic testing and inspections, carrying out any remedial repairs that may be needed.
