Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted by Lidl to provide specialist services at its biggest ever distribution centre on Houghton Regis’ doorstep, where construction work has now begun.

Lidl is a family supermarket that takes pride in providing its customers with the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices,

The development comprises the construction of a Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) of over 1.2 million square feet of warehouse floor space, 612 associated car parking spaces, 141 HGV stacking spaces, 196 loading docks, 20 E-charging spaces, a drivers lounge, smoking shelters, two bicycle stores with 104 spaces for bicycles, four haulier cabins, three battery enclosures, a generator enclosure, sprinkler tanks, pump house hydrant tanks, gas and electric substations, two bus stops on Woodside Link, and a comprehensive landscaping scheme.

The site is sandwiched between the Woodside Link and the M1 motorway northbound slip road for J11A, to the east of Houghton Regis, in Chalton parish.

PTSG Access & Safety Ltd is involved with the design, supply and installation of the roof perimeter fixed guardrails, and free standing guardrails to the rooflight areas, with over 4km of guardrail in total being installed. The fixed guardrails are offering collective edge protection for the roofing contractor during construction phase, as well as providing permanent guardrails for Lidl at handover stage. This has reduced the need and added cost for any temporary edge protection during the construction phase.
