A kitchen fire suppression system has one job, and it has to do it the first time.
PTSG Fire Solutions inspects, services and maintains wet chemical kitchen fire suppression systems over cooking ranges, fryers and canopies, with directly employed engineers and certificates that satisfy your insurer and your fire risk assessment.
What is kitchen suppression maintenance?
Kitchen fire suppression systems protect cooking appliances, canopies and extract plenums. When a fire is detected, the system automatically discharges a wet chemical agent through nozzles positioned over each appliance, knocking down the flames, cooling the cooking oil and forming a barrier that prevents re-ignition. The system also shuts off the fuel supply to the cooking equipment.
To work in a fire, every part of the system must be in good order: the agent cylinder, detection line, nozzles, fuel shut-off and manual release. Manufacturers, insurers and standards including BS EN 17446 and LPS 1223 require these systems to be serviced at regular intervals, typically every six months.

Most manufacturers and insurers require servicing every six months. Your system’s manufacturer or insurer may specify additional requirements.
Nozzles are positioned for specific appliances. If equipment is moved, replaced or added, the system may no longer protect it. PTSG checks nozzle coverage against the current layout at every service and can redesign the system where needed.
The kitchen must be cleaned, and the system recharged and recommissioned before cooking resumes. PTSG provides 24/7 response to return the system to service as quickly as possible.
