In 2014, we launched MOUSE (Memorable, Outstanding, Unique, Service Experience), a unique customer service-driven initiative. Each month, MOUSE speaks to someone in our team about their life inside and outside of work.

This month we speak to John Warren, Technical Director for PTSG Electrical Services’ company Test Strike UK Ltd to find out about his role and life outside of work.

At work

Test Strike provides lightning protection testing, certification repair and upgrade or improvements to existing systems along with advising on new installations and surge protection requirements relating to lightning protection systems. We also offer an Early Streamer Emission (ESE) system that Test Strike has been developing and promoting for several years within the industry with the support of PTSG and Aplicaciones Tecnológicas from Spain.

The most important part of the job for me is to maintain a high standard of customer satisfaction and support to all. I enjoy being able to plan a job that involves various difficulties and a challenge in completing work that has previously been passed over as being too difficult.

In terms of the skills required to be able to do the job, it’s about maintaining an overview of the business at all times with an awareness and understanding of all scheduled works and clients. Being methodical and disciplined each day helps.

I frequently ask myself how I got involved in this line of work! Since PTSG’s acquisition, the job has moved at a much faster pace, with a larger reporting remit that allows full transparency. That has taken time to get used to but makes perfect sense once it all comes together. Change is good.

At home

I have an amazing wife who is very supportive, and great friends both home and abroad who visit regularly. We spend a lot of our time together and this is how I enjoy my time away from work. I have an interest in building design and structures, both industrial and commercial. A big like for me is black and white photography of some of the structures that I visit. My favourite city is London and I regularly visit the capital to achieve all of the above.
