Welcome

Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Inside PTSG. I hope you and your families are continuing to stay well.

I’m happy to say we’re able to look back at 2020 with great pride in what we’ve achieved and how we’ve responded to a pandemic which has shaken all sectors to their foundations.

PTSG began the year as usual but by March, like the vast majority of companies, our teams throughout our 29 UK offices, were called to a halt as we entered the first lockdown. Thankfully, we were able to recover extremely quickly; during the week commencing 17th March all our back office staff were mobilised to work from home.

To ensure all frontline staff – our engineers – were fully prepared for a safe and effective return to work, we created a new course on the PTSG Training Portal. This enables all individuals in every area of the business to take a Coronavirus Induction.

The task of creating the technology, engaging, educating and mobilising all 1,300+ people in a short space of time – in a way that aligns with guidelines set out by the government and Public Health England – was immense. PTSG achieved this in time for a controlled return to work on 27th April.

Since then, we have striven to carry out our work as usual as far as possible, always working under the special hygiene and social distancing measures put in place by the government – and also complying with our clients’ own special arrangements on site.

One example of this is a recent project completed by our building access specialists for Breedon Cement on their plant near Dublin. Our team had its own compound due to the coronavirus restrictions – no member was allowed to mix with anyone else on site. Despite all this, they completed the painting of the main industrial chimney on time and to budget.

According to the HIS Markit/CIPS purchasing managers’ index, sales in the construction sector are increasing at the fastest rate in six years. That is obviously great news for the industry and supply chain, of which PTSG is part.

As we begin 2021, there is much cause for optimism and much to be thankful for. I wish you a happy and prosperous New Year.

Best wishes
