As the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games drew to a close on Sunday (02 August 2026), we are to reflect on our role in supporting one of the year’s largest international sporting events.

Part of PTSG Building Access Specialists, NSS provided specialist access platforms throughout the Games, supporting the athletics programme at Scotstoun Stadium.

NSS lead hire operator Andrew Newhouse worked alongside an international team of specialists from Sweden, Finland, France and Germany. Together, they delivered the access solutions required to support a demanding programme of track and field events, including evening athletics sessions.

Long working days, a busy live-event environment and some characteristically challenging Scottish weather demanded considerable flexibility and teamwork. The professionalism and reliability demonstrated throughout the Games ensured that activity continued safely and efficiently behind the scenes.

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games form part of an exceptional programme of high-profile events supported by the NSS hire team.

During 2026, we have also provided specialist support at Trooping the Colour, the Isle of Wight Festival, Radio 1’s Big Weekend, the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Genesis Scottish Open and The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.

Our international programme has also included the Amundi Evian Championship in France and further major golf events across Europe.

There is plenty still to come. We are scheduled to support forthcoming touring car and MotoGP events, Radio 2 in the Park in Stirling, the Omega European Masters in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, and the Burghley Horse Trials.

NSS delivers powered access hire and specialist services for some of the most demanding working environments in the UK and Europe. Our involvement in these prestigious sporting, cultural and royal occasions demonstrates the expertise, responsiveness and dependable delivery available across PTSG.

While the athletes and performers quite rightly take centre stage, major events depend on highly skilled teams working out of sight. We are proud to be one of them.
