PTSG renews contract with the DWP

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has renewed a contract with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to provide specialist services – a contract the Group has held for over 14 years.

Engineers from PTSG Access and Safety Ltd will test fall arrest equipment at sites throughout the UK. The work will be carried out in accordance with SFG20 – the definitive standard for planned maintenance. It enables facilities managers, building owners, contractors and consultants to stay compliant.

Developed by the Building and Engineering Services Association, SFG20 provides consultants, contractors, building owners and FM managers a single version of the truth when it comes to maintenance requirements for buildings.

First developed as SMG90 in 1990, the standard has been revised and updated on an ongoing basis, evolving from the original set of five published volumes, to a CD-ROM, before transitioning to an online service in 2012.

PTSG’s teams have worked on DWP assets for a number of years undertaking work on behalf of various principal contractors. The Group’s specialist team provides a wide range of services to ensure the safety of building users including: access and safety, electrical services, external building maintenance and reparation and fire solutions.

PTSG re-awarded Government contract

Retail Centre goes shopping with PTSG

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has entered a contract to provide multiple specialist services at Guildhall Shopping Centre in Exeter.

The retail and food destination is described as a meeting of modern culture and traditional architecture. The same architect that designed Covent Garden in London was also behind the classical Queen Street façade at Guildhall Shopping Centre.

In an agreement signed with main contractor Imtech, engineers from PTSG are to perform fixed wire testing at the centre, as well as the testing of fire alarm systems and other fire protection assets.

PTSG performs specialist services at base of F-15

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been involved in a project to provide lightning protection services at RAF Lakenheath.

The Royal Air Force station, located near the village of Lakenheath in Suffolk, hosts United States Air Force units and personnel. The host wing is the 48th Fighter Wing, of which the Boeing F-15E Strike Eagle belongs.

PTSG’s engineers delivered repair work to the catenary lightning protection system in place at the base. This type of lightning protection system is thought of as a “horizontal” lightning air terminal. It is well suited to facilities that contain flammable and explosive materials or where the installation of traditional air terminals is challenging or impossible.

The F-15 is a stunning fighter plane offering next generation technologies including an advanced cockpit, AESA radar, digital electronic warfare suite, the world’s fastest mission computer and modern sensors to remain ahead of current and evolving threats. PTSG’s engineers were able to experience the fighter plane in action during this project.

PTSG has vast experience in delivering multi-disciplinary specialist services within secure, operational air force bases. In the past, its engineers have worked at RAF Marham in Norfolk, delivering essential upgrades to existing lightning protection systems. The Group has built up a wide portfolio in the aviation sector, with work extending abroad. This included providing specialist support to 12 individual site assets at the construction site of Hamad International Airport (HIA), Qatar. On its way to a successful solution, PTSG overcame unique challenges presented by working in an environment foreign to many of its engineers.

PTSG enters multiple services contract with Kier

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has signed a national agreement with Kier to provide a range of specialist services including portable appliance and fixed wire testing and the testing of emergency lightning.

PTSG delivers a growing number of bundled services contracts with major first-tier contractors, with others including Sodexo plc, Interserve, Arcus FM, JLL and Vinci Facilities. This illustrates the Group’s multi-disciplinary capabilities and the benefits this offers to partners such as a single point of contact for all services and the ability to ensure compliance across all areas.
