Importance of lightning protection highlighted by domestic blaze

In the early hours of Tuesday 24th July, firefighters were called to a blaze in Arnold, Nottinghamshire, where the roof of a house had been destroyed in an electrical storm.

Fire ripped through the property during thunder and lightning storms at around 2.30am; by 6am the blaze was put out. Luckily no one was in the house at the time and there were no injuries. The house, however, was severely damaged.

PTSG listed in Yorkshire Top 500

The Wakefield Express has reported that thirty-two of Yorkshire Business Insider’s top 500 companies are located in and around Wakefield – including Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG).

The Wakefield area includes Castleford, Normanton, Ossett, Pontefract and the town of Wakefield. As the leader of Wakefield Council, Peter Box, said: “The Top 500 report demonstrates that businesses in the district are continuing to grow despite declines elsewhere in the UK due to the uncertainties of Brexit.”

PTSG is one of the companies that embraces this spirit of entrepreneurialism and opportunity. The company recently reached a business agreement in principle with financial services company Macquarie Group, unlocking further potential for PTSG.

This agreement is the latest landmark in a 12-year history that has seen the Group grow from a small collection of industry specialists to become an international multi-disciplinary provider of specialist services to the FM and construction sectors. PTSG now employs 1,200 people and operates from 29 UK bases, enabling its engineers to be mobilised to virtually any job at a moment’s notice.

PTSG continues to provide specialist services for Co-op

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has entered into a contract to provide multiple specialist services for the Co-operative Group.

The agreement was signed with main contractor Arcus, the facilities services provider based in Essex. PTSG will be delivering the testing and maintenance of lightning protection and fall arrest systems in place at a number of Co-operative’s Group’s centres of operation.

The two Groups – PTSG and Co-operative – began working together in 2014, when engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd. performed portable appliance and fixed-wire testing at eight distribution centres. The following year, PTSG delivered the same services at over 600 large food stores, local stores and funeral service providers across the UK. As a result of the strong relationship built during this contract, PTSG Access & Safety Ltd. was commissioned to test fall arrest equipment at One Angel Square – one of the Co-operative’s major buildings based in Manchester.

Forming strong and sustainable relationships is key to PTSG’s success. Its bundled services provision means that the Group often begins by providing just one specialist service for a client. This can be extended to include further services in a multi-disciplinary contract which invariably saves both money and time, improving efficiency all round.
