PTSG to go to school in Swansea

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) is to undertake lightning protection remedial and upgrade works for the City and County of Swansea.

In a major new contract, PTSG Electrical Services Ltd. will bring the lightning protection systems at a number of educational establishments, of which there are around 100 in the County of Swansea, up to a first-class operational standard.

PTSG is the UK market leader in lightning protection – just one of the specialist services it provides. The Group has four separate but complementary divisions: Access & Safety, Electrical Services, Building Access Specialists and Fire Solutions. Clients often extend their initial contract to include several specialist services or products. This can save considerable time and money in finding multiple service providers, and leads to long-term, mutually advantageous relationships.

PTSG is firstport of call for specialist services

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) is currently managing the entire lightning protection systems portfolio of work for FirstPort Property Management Services, as well as a number of other specialist services.

FirstPort is the largest residential property manager in the UK, with a strong national presence, caring for over 185,000 properties. Earlier this month it was named one of the UK’s top employers, and PTSG is delighted to have the opportunity to provide multi-disciplinary services to ensure its buildings are safe and compliant for all users.

PTSG’s bundled service delivery is one aspect of its business that differentiates it from its competitors. An increasing number of clients contract one of the Group’s divisions to provide a specific service. This is often extended to include more services from the same division (e.g. fixed wire testing in addition to portable appliance testing) or other kinds of specialist services. Access & Testing, Electrical Services, Building Access Specialists and Fire Solutions are the Group’s four discrete business divisions that work in a complementary way to save clients the time and cost of finding multiple providers.

The importance of safety when working at height

Doctor Karen McDonnell, occupational safety and health policy advisor at RoSPA, has highlighted how basic measures are still not being taken to prevent accidents when working at height.

Speaking to Construction News, Dr McDonnell referred to “wholly avoidable” accidents, such as an employee of a business based in Doncaster, who shattered his elbow after falling from a ladder. In a separate incident, a construction firm in London was fined £300,000 after admitting breaches of the Health and Safety at Work Act, which led to an employee’s death on a stairwell.

The article says that falls have always been the most common type of injury experienced by the UK’s workforce. It is essential that all firms that undertake any kind of working at height take measures to protect their employees. Often, simple and common-sense precautions are sufficient to prevent accidents.

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG), the UK’s leading provider of specialist services and equipment to the construction and services sector, conducts a great deal of its work at height. This includes the installation, testing and maintenance of lightning protection systems, high-level cleaning and steeplejack working, and the design and installation of some of the world’s largest building maintenance units.

Safety has always underpinned every action taken by its teams of engineers and PTSG is still one of the only organisations of its kind to have a full-time Health, Safety and Environmental division working Group-wide to ensure the safety of both employees and building users during projects. It’s an approach which has garnered many industry awards – in 2018, the Group achieved a Gold Medal (7 consecutive Golds) in the internationally-renowned RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, the longest-running industry awards scheme in the UK.

Earlier this month, PTSG was proud to announce it has received an International Safety Award with Distinction. The Group will celebrate its achievement at the 61st International Safety Awards Gala Dinner on Friday, 5th April at the five-star JW Marriott Grosvenor House London.

PTSG appoints two new senior leaders

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG), the UK’s leading supplier of specialist services, has bolstered its already highly experienced leadership team with the appointment of a new Operations Director and a new Sales Director.

Mr Henry is a seasoned Business Development professional and has managed all forms of cleaning, especially in technical and specialist environments. His skills and experience will be a great addition to the Group.

PTSG, following its recent 27th business acquisition, now has 1,200 industry specialists at 31 UK office locations. It means the company can be mobilised to respond to any request for specialist services nationwide. The Group has carved out a niche for its bundled service provision and is able to offer multiple services to keep all kinds of buildings and users safe, saving organisations the time and expense of finding several different providers.
