PTSG is flying high with British Airways

Premier Technical Services Group PLC’s (PTSG) Building Access Specialists division has recently completed a significant contract to install signage for British Airways at Heathrow Airport.

British Airways, part of International Airlines Group, is one of the world’s leading global premium airlines and the largest international carrier in the UK. The airline is due to celebrate its 100th anniversary on 25 August 2019.

The Group’s expert engineers visited the site to install new signage to the façade of Terminal 5. The sign was custom built and installed on site by the Group’s qualified engineers and is now visible to passengers both taking off and landing at Heathrow Airport.

PTSG’s skilled engineers use a wide range of access equipment to install signage at height. Rope access techniques offer a quick and economical solution to erecting signage, with minimal disruption in comparison to other methods such as scaffolding; a necessity for busy and prestigious clients such as British Airways.

PTSG to protect Orchard Village residents

Premier Technical Services Group PLC’s (PTSG) Electrical Services division is due to install lightning protection systems at the Orchard Village housing estate in South London.

Originally built in the 1960s and known as the Mardyke Estate, Orchard Village is a large housing development in Rainham. The site underwent significant regeneration between 2009 and 2017, and comprises 555 new homes, 64 shared ownership and 152 private sale properties.

The Group will install high-quality and reliable lightning protection systems to the buildings on site, which will serve to protect residents during lightning storms.

PTSG Director speaks on expert panel at Facilities Scotland

Premier Technical Services Group PLC’s (PTSG) Group Sales Director, Andrew Dack, has recently spoken on an expert panel at this year’s Facilities Scotland event, offering an insight into a quality supply chain in the facilities management industry.

On 12th September, Andrew and the other panellists debated the question: ‘Can Scottish FM plot a new value-driven path for the sector?’ The panel’s focus was on finding a way forward for FM by learning lessons from recent failures seen to result from a ‘race to the bottom’ in the industry.

As PTSG’s Group Sales Director, Andrew plays a key role in the success of the business, ensuring that strong client relationships are sustained by both a strong offering and high-quality delivery. He was invited to share his expertise with others in the industry on a panel also featuring Mark Whittaker of Integral UK and BIFM North; and Sandy McNaughton, chair of BIFM Scotland.

This year’s two-day Facilities Scotland event took place at Glasgow’s Scottish Event Campus (SEC), attracting thousands of facilities management professionals from Scotland and beyond.

PTSG shortlisted for two Excellence in Business Awards

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted in two categories in the Yorkshire Post’s Excellence in Business Awards 2018.

The Group has once again been shortlisted in the Turnover of more than £50m category, after being shortlisted in the same category last year. It has also been shortlisted for the Apprenticeships award, recognising its investment in training and supporting dozens of apprentices in their engineering careers.

In the announcement of this year’s shortlist, the organisers revealed that the standard of entries was exceptionally high, the second highest in the awards’ history.

The Excellence in Business Awards are a major event for the county’s most successful businesses and have attracted a host of high-profile speakers in the past, including David Cameron and George Osborne.

The Group has enjoyed great success at these awards in the past. In 2013 the Group was awarded the prestigious title of Business of the Year (£10m-£50m category), and in 2016 PTSG CEO Paul Teasdale was named Entrepreneur of the Year.

This year’s ceremony will take place on 1st November in York’s National Railway Museum. The black-tie event will see over 250 guests descend on the museum for an awards ceremony honouring the best in Yorkshire business, from household names to regional rising stars.

PTSG strengthens partnership with McCarthy & Stone

Premier Technical Services Group PLC’s (PTSG) Electrical Services division has started work to carry out a series of lightning protection installations on McCarthy & Stone properties across Essex.

The Group’s expert teams will install lightning protection systems at new retirement apartments across the county, ensuring that their future residents will be protected from lightning strikes.

Works have already been completed at homes in Loughton, with further work to be carried out in Chelmsford and Colchester in the coming months. Over the last few years the Group has provided protection at hundreds of other sites in McCarthy & Stone’s portfolio.

Named as the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, McCarthy & Stone has built more than 51,000 apartments nationwide over the past 40 years. In July 2018, the company won two awards at the ARMA (Association of Residential Managing Agents) national awards.

The installation, testing and maintenance of lightning repair systems is a major part of PTSG’s provision within PTSG Electrical Services. With offices throughout the UK, its engineers can be mobilised to attend any site to meet its clients’ needs.

PTSG designs bespoke safety system for Standard Life

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has secured an order to design a bespoke guardrail system for Standard Life’s head office building in Edinburgh.

The Group’s skilled Access and Safety engineers will install edge protection around the building’s windows, which are used as access points to the roof. The new system will offer complete protection for maintenance teams carrying out work on the roof, ensuring their safety before they reach the site’s existing safety equipment on the roof itself.

The system has been specifically designed to suit the site’s complex and challenging architecture, as an off-the-shelf product would have been vastly inadequate.

Standard Life operates in 45 worldwide with 6,300 employees and around 4.5 million customers. Founded in Edinburgh in 1825, the company moved to its current headquarters at Standard Life House in Edinburgh’s financial district, the Exchange, in 1996.

PTSG secures multi-service contract with Vertas

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has secured a county-wide, multidisciplinary contract with Vertas Group Limited in Suffolk.

Vertas is a Suffolk County Council-owned company that manages around 400 council properties across the county, including schools, offices and public buildings.

Highly trained engineers from across PTSG’s four divisions will attend these sites to provide lightning protection and fall arrest works, chimney inspections, fixed wire testing and portable appliance testing.

PTSG goes full steam ahead with Kuehne + Nagel

Premier Technical Services Group PLC’s (PTSG) Electrical Services division has won a nationwide contract with Kuehne + Nagel, a global transport and logistics company based in Switzerland.

Founded in 1890, Kuehne + Nagel employs over 74,000 workers at more than 1,300 locations in over 100 countries. The company offers sea freight and airfreight forwarding, contract logistics, and overland services with a focus on providing IT-based logistics solutions.

PTSG’s Electrical Services division will deliver both fixed wire testing and portable appliance testing (PAT) on all of the company’s distribution centres across the UK, visiting over 100 sites in total. From 1st October, engineers will carry out regular tests to ensure that all electricals and appliances are safe to use, ensuring the safety of both staff and visitors.

PTSG’s Electrical Testing division is a leading expert in fixed wire testing, electrical rectification works and portable appliance testing, performing all works to the highest health and safety standards.

PTSG’s fire service maintenance for DwP well underway

Premier Technical Services Group PLC’s (PTSG) Fire Solutions division has recently attended a number of sites for the Department for Work and Pensions (DwP) to complete the first tranche of work on a contract to test fire doors.

The DwP has around 700 office locations around the UK, and the safety of staff and visitors at all of these sites is vital. Engineers have already completed the first round of work on this contract, having tested 300 fire doors, with another 3,000 to be tested in the coming months.

This work is part of a larger five-year contract with the DwP, which includes services from the Group’s Access and Safety, Electrical Services, Building Access Specialists and Fire Solutions divisions.

The Group’s specialist Fire Solutions team provides a wide range of services to ensure the safety of building users in the event of a fire, including dry and wet risers, sprinklers, and fire alarm and emergency lighting testing.
