In 2014, we launched MOUSE (Memorable, Outstanding, Unique, Service Experience), a unique customer service-driven initiative. Each month, we focus on a different person or department to find about how that part of the business contributes to the performance of the Group as a whole.

This month we talk to Simon Greenwood, Director of Specialist Earthing and Surge for PTSG. He is a specialist in the provision of power earthing and lightning protection surveys, designs and installations, as well as testing and commissioning systems. He his team deliver solutions for clients throughout the UK in the construction and utilities sectors.

“I am a time-served electrical engineer and having spent 12 years within the electrical industry, I moved into the niche lightning protection and earthing industry; 21 years later I am still involved.

“I enjoy building relationships with clients and colleagues. My day-to-day work involves managing internal resource and external customer expectation. I also direct the production of detailed designs and quotations and ensure that these are installed and commissioned correctly. I am also Chairman of ATLAS Earthing Committee and a member of both BSI committees for BS62305(Lightning Protection) and BS7430 (Earthing). Work is often hectic, but I relish the day-to-day challenge.

“Outside of work I enjoy the company of friends and family. I am an avid sports fan, I try and keep myself fit and enjoy good food, travelling and the occasional beer.”

Earthing is probably one of the specialist services that are less well-known or understood. Please have a look at PTSG’s specialist earthing brochure here to find out more.
