A snack from the vending machine at Premier Technical Services Group’s (PTSG) Castleford head office is doing more than satisfying an afternoon craving. It is also helping colleagues support causes close to their hearts.
Since being introduced by PTSG’s procurement team in December, the charity vending machine has generated sales of £4,407.36 and donated £1,974.64 in profits to seven good causes.
Colleagues nominate the charities they would like to support, with one selected at random each month. It means that whenever someone picks up a drink, snack or occasional treat, they are also contributing to a cause that matters to someone at PTSG.
The charities supported so far are Henry’s Haven Cat Rescue; Help for Heroes; Equine Pathways; Bradford Burns Unit; Rescue 4 Dogs; Martin House; and RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield and District Branch, which received the largest monthly donation to date of £423.40.
Michaela Ellison, who manages and restocks the machine, said: “Everyone needs a snack at some point in the working day, so why not make it count? Every charity nominated means something to someone in the building and it’s lovely to see colleagues supporting causes that matter to each other.”
Greg Ward, Chief Executive Officer at PTSG, said: “Our people make PTSG what it is. This is a simple idea that has made a real difference, giving colleagues a direct say in the causes we support and helping charities in our local communities and further afield.”
The vending machine complements PTSG’s wider charitable activity. Other initiatives this year have included support for Beat, the UK’s eating disorder charity, and Breast Cancer Now.
Together, these activities reflect PTSG’s commitment to supporting causes that matter to its people and the communities in which they live and work.
With a new charity selected each month, the fundraising total will continue to grow – one snack at a time.
