Our engineers work at height, in plant rooms and on the road every day. Keeping them physically safe is second nature to us. Now we’re holding ourselves to the same standard for their mental health.

PTSG has pledged its support for the Workplace Mental Health First Aid Standards, the first of their kind in the UK.

MHFA England® and the Association of Mental Health First Aiders® developed the Standards. They set a clear benchmark for good mental health support at work. That means the right training, clear routes to support and the right response when someone needs help.

Mental health has been a priority at PTSG for many years. Our work has been recognised across the construction and FM sectors, with finalist places in national awards including Construction News’ workplace awards and the PFM Partnership Awards. It’s part of how we look after our people, not an afterthought.

Under Terry Wilcock, Group Health and Wellbeing Director, we have built:

  • a Mental Health First Aid network of around 100 trained colleagues
  • a Health and Wellbeing Hub that every employee can use anonymously
  • an Employee Assistance Programme that puts people in touch with qualified professionals within hours.

Greg Ward, Chief Executive Officer of PTSG, said: “Safety has always been at the heart of what we do. That has to include mental health. This pledge holds us to a national standard, and our people deserve nothing less.”
