Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG), via constituent company Trinity, has successfully completed major upgrade works to the Voice Alarm and Public Address (VA/PA) system at St David’s Shopping Centre in Cardiff, enhancing life safety and communication capabilities at one of Wales’s leading retail destinations.
The new installation comprises five networked Baldwin Boxall VA/PA cabinets, interconnected via multimode fibre optic cabling to deliver a robust and resilient life safety system.
The upgraded system supports 32 broadcast zones, each equipped with dual, fully monitored loudspeaker circuits, ensuring high levels of reliability and fault tolerance.
As part of the project, all Intellivox loudspeakers within the Grand Arcade were completely rewired. This included the installation of new dedicated 100A feeds from the Baldwin Boxall amplifiers, direct amplifier-to-loudspeaker connections, and the removal of legacy cabling to optimise system performance and long-term reliability.
Following completion of the works, the system was revalidated and rigorously tested by Trinity’s specialist speaker engineer. Harman Kardon was also present on site to provide acoustic modelling and realignment, helping to ensure excellent speech intelligibility and consistent audio coverage throughout the arcade.
This project demonstrates PTSG’s commitment to collaboration, technical excellence and the delivery of compliant, high-performance life safety audio systems in complex retail environments.
