Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG), via Pendrich Height Services, has completed a project to carry out repairs to the finial rod and masonry of a cathedral.
Pendrich is one of the UK’s most experienced providers of steeplejack and specialist height services. This project required a bespoke scaffolding tower to be erected to enable the urgent masonry repair work to be carried out to the top of the cathedral’s spire, where water ingress was developing.
Pendrich’s specialist team also carried out repairs to the wind vane and lightning protection system.
The work was classified as planned maintenance following a rope access inspection, in which a comprehensive report was compiled with recommendations for the repairs.
The industry’s most famous exponent of steeplejack services was Fred Dibnah who, having mastered his trade repairing chimneys, became aware of the demand for a cost-effective method of demolishing them. He presented a number of television series in the 1980s and 1990s on his steeplejack work as well as the industrial revolution and its mechanical and architectural legacy.
