Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been awarded a contract to install the site-wide earthing and lightning protection at the Shotton Mill redevelopment project in Deeside, Flintshire – close to the Wales-England border.

Following the redevelopment, Shotton Paper mill will produce nearly 100 per cent recycled fibre products, powered by a hydrogen-fuelled combined heat and power (CHP) plant on site. Its system will purify its own wastewater, which will be recycled back into the plant. The redeveloped facility is expected to reduce carbon emissions by the equivalent of those from 190,000 homes annually.

Engineers from PTSG’s Lightning Protection Installations Division will be delivering the works to ensure a high degree of safety at the site.

Lightning is always looking for the shortest path to earth. The key is to ensure that it doesn’t make its path through your property. Lightning protection systems intercept, conduct and disperse lightning strikes safely to earth. They should be designed, installed and tested in accordance with BS EN 62305.

PTSG is the UK’s leading provider of lightning protection services. This includes the design, installation, testing and inspection and maintenance of lightning and surge protection systems and power earthing works.
