On Thursday 18 September, Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) was in the customer spotlight at the Google Cloud Event as part of the Group’s technology transformation.
Philip Paterson CITP MBCS, Head of Cloud & Infrastructure at PTSG, joined Justin Apps from Menzies Aviation and Michael Wheeler-Wyatt from Google Chrome on stage at London’s Barbican theatre to share their experiences of adopting the new Cameyo platform and other elements of the ChromeOS stable.
Philip Paterson is the Head of Cloud and Infrastructure at Premier Technical Services Group (PTSG). With a diverse background spanning both the public and private sectors, his experience includes working on major oil and gas projects in the Middle East and managing critical communications systems for the UK Fire Service.
At PTSG, Philip leads the team that recently completed a successful migration to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), delivering savings of over £500,000. He is now focused on the next stage of the company’s digital journey: transforming legacy services to create modern, data-driven outcomes. Prior to this, he worked as Group IT Manager until, in 2022, he became Director of Information Technology.
At the Google Cloud Event, Philip shared how PTSG has successfully adopted Cameyo for app streaming as part of the Group’s move to GCP, saving money and speeding up the user experience. The PTSG Cloud Programme has delivered a vastly improved experience for anyone in the Group who uses data in its different forms. there’s no longer any need to build infrastructure to support higher load levels as more people join the Group. Instead, it can quickly scale resources and storage up to meet its demands without having to invest in physical infrastructure.
The event also gave a fascinating insight into how Menzies is also adopting this platform – building highly secure Chrome devices in under four minutes.
Phil has also been invited to talk in Paris at the Google EMEA conference in November. This Google Cloud Event forms part of the PTSG journey to improve services for both customers and employees.
