Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to provide specialist fire safety solutions at West Quay Marina in Poole, Dorset.
Poole Borough Council granted permission for the regeneration of the site of a former timber yard and industrial units next to Twin Sails Bridge. This includes nearly 300 new homes at West Quay Marina along with 9,000 square feet of commercial space, including restaurants and shops.
Poole is a tourist resort, attracting visitors with its large natural harbour, history, the Lighthouse arts centre and Blue Flag beaches. The town has a commercial port with cross-Channel freight and passenger ferry services, which connect with the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey, as well as the French port town of Saint-Malo, Brittany.
In this contract, engineers from PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd will install a full commercial sprinkler system at the development. Sprinklers are widely regarded as the most effective means of fire suppression available, with a success rate of over 99% ensuring that almost all fires are extinguished before the fire service arrives on site. They dramatically reduce property damage, injuries, and deaths, using a fraction of the water from fire hoses.
In addition to fire suppression systems, PTSG’s specialists also provide fire detection and alarm systems, dry and wet risers and fire extinguishers, passive fire services including fire door installation and testing and fire-rated glazing, plus security systems.
