Today, on 10th September 2025, Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) joins the global community in observing World Suicide Prevention Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and transforming how we talk about suicide.
Every 90 minutes, someone in the UK or Ireland dies by suicide, and 1 in 4 of us has had suicidal thoughts.
Globally, more than 720,000 people die due to suicide every year, and there are many more people who make suicide attempts. Suicide is not inevitable. You can interrupt someone’s suicidal thoughts. You could save a life.
We urge everyone to:
- Become more informed and aware
- Check in on friends, colleagues, and family
- Reach out if you’re struggling – you’re not alone
- Make every conversation count
The MHFA England® training that we deliver can help to create supportive cultures where wellbeing and productivity thrive. Research has found that as many as 650 suicides in the UK, or 10% each year, could be work-related.
The Samaritans World Suicide Prevention Day 2025 campaign was co-created with people who have lived experience of suicidal thoughts.
One of the best things you can do if you think someone may be feeling suicidal is to encourage them to talk and to listen to what they say, the most important thing you can do to help is listen. If you are worried, trust your instincts, and ask them: “Are you thinking about suicide?”
To tackle the stigma around suicide, PTSG encourages people to talk freely about mental health. We have made huge progress as a group; however, some of the most progressive organisations within our industry shy away from sharing resources on suicide and suicide prevention.
If someone is at immediate risk of attempting suicide or has harmed themselves, dial 999. If someone is having thoughts of suicide, even if they don’t have a plan to end their life, encourage them to: Call Samaritans on 116 123, text ‘SHOUT’ to 85258 or call Hopeline247 on 0800 068 4141.
