Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) held its first PTSG People event on 20th May, focusing on an important and often overlooked topic: Menopause in the Workplace. The session was attended by more than 60 colleagues across the country – demonstrating the Group’s continued commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive working environment.
The event was organised by Tanya Matthews (Business Development Director) and featured presentations from Jenny Haskey, CEO of The Menopause Charity and Terry Wilcock, PTSG’s Group H&S Director.
Bringing People Together Through Shared Experiences
What made the event particularly impactful was the diverse audience it attracted – spanning different genders, ages and departments. This cross-section of representation helped spark meaningful conversations and reinforced a key message: menopause is not just a women’s issue – it’s a workplace issue that touches everyone.
Attendees heard honest and moving testimonies from Tanya Matthews and Michaela Ellison (Facilities Co-ordinator), who shared their personal experiences and challenges. These powerful stories helped demystify the subject and highlighted its often-unseen impact on professional and personal wellbeing.
Expert Insight from The Menopause Charity
Jenny Haskey’s presentation brought valuable insights, including:
· 10% of women leave their jobs due to menopause
· 90% of women experience symptoms, yet only 14% are on HRT
· Even GPs may not always recognise symptoms of perimenopause and menopause
She explained how symptoms can have far-reaching implications – including increased risks of osteoporosis, heart disease and even dementia. Jenny praised PTSG’s proactive approach, stating: “Menopause isn’t just a women’s issue – it’s a workplace issue. Businesses like PTSG that encourage open discussions are helping build more connected, compassionate teams.”
Creating a Supportive Network at PTSG
To support colleagues, PTSG has introduced a network of Menopause Champions and Mental Health First Aiders. These trained individuals are available to:
· Approach, assess and assist colleagues
· Listen without judgment
· Provide information and direct people to support services
· Encourage professional help when needed
· Promote healthy internal support networks
These champions are central to PTSG’s mission of breaking down stigma and enabling open, respectful conversations around all aspects of wellbeing.
PTSG’s Confidential Support Hub
For those seeking help or simply more information, PTSG offers a dedicated Menopause section within the Health and Wellbeing Hub on the company’s intranet – the PTSG Portal. This confidential space includes:
· Symptom checklists
· Advice and resources
· Risk assessments
Further well-being events are planned throughout the year.
