Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialist lightning protection works for pharma giant GSK, via Altrad-Babcock, at GSK’s Montrose site in East Scotland.
GSK plc (GlaxoSmithKline) is a British multinational biopharmaceutical company headquartered in London, focused on developing innovative medicines and vaccines in areas like oncology, HIV, respiratory, and infectious diseases. Founded in 2000 from a merger of Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKline Beecham, GSK became a focused biopharma company in 2022 after spinning off its consumer healthcare division into Haleon plc.
GSK currently has around 400 staff based in Montrose and the site plays an important role as part of GSK’s global network of manufacturing sites.
Montrose supplies what’s known as active pharmaceutical ingredients or APIs, which are the main components of a medicine that make them work – in other words, the part of the medicine that is responsible for treating the condition or illness.
In this contract, PTSG’s electrical engineers will install a brand-new lightning protection system to provide a high level of protection to the site and staff in Montrose in the event of an electrical storm.
