Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialist Access & Safety services at St Regulus Hall, a hall of residence at the University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland.
The building that would become St Regulus Hall was built in 1868 by architect George Rae as a hotel. It was acquired by the University of St Andrews in the 1950s in order to accommodate the increasing student population and was extensively refurbished and extended.
Founded in 1413, St Andrews is the oldest of the four ancient universities of Scotland and, following the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, the third-oldest university in the English-speaking world. Over 145 nationalities are represented at the university, with about 47% of its intake from countries outside the UK. The university encompasses three colleges: United College, St Mary’s College and St Leonard’s College. The purpose of the colleges at St Andrews is mainly ceremonial, as students are housed in separate residential halls or private accommodations.
In this contract, engineers from PTSG Access & Safety Ltd will install free-standing guardrails to the roof of St Regulus Hall. This will provide fall protection for operatives carrying out periodic maintenance services to the exterior of the building.
PTSG’s team of specialists routinely deliver a comprehensive range of fall arrest and fall restraint systems and equipment to enable operatives to work 100% safely at height. In addition, they provide specialist solutions for façade access by way of rope access (abseil).
