Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG), via Pendrich Height Services (Pendrich) has completed a specialist building services project on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh.

The Tolbooth Tavern is part of the original Canongate Tolbooth, which was built in 1591. This medieval building was used to collect tolls from travellers entering the burgh at the Canongate. The ground floor became The Tolbooth Tavern in 1820.

It is now a cosy traditional Scottish pub, which boasts a prime spot along the Royal Mile, where the small exterior gives way to a spacious bar and mezzanine dining area. Visitors can sample fine Scottish ales, malt whiskies and gins, in addition to home-cooked Scottish fayre using locally-sourced produce.

Pendrich’s specialists were called in when loose stonework was found on the Tolbooth Tavern. With the heavily congested foot fall of tourists on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, bespoke scaffolding was constructed to the pinnacles of the building, which removed any inconvenience to the public and made safe a potentially dangerous situation.

Pendrich forms part of PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd. One of the Group’s five independent divisions, its many specialists perform a wide range of maintenance, repair and decoration services to every kind of structure in the built environment – ensuring they remain fit for purpose and looking their best.
