Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG), via Pendrich Height Services (Pendrich) has completed a specialist building services project at Glasgow City Chambers.
The City Chambers or Municipal Buildings in Glasgow, Scotland, has functioned as the headquarters of Glasgow City Council since 1996, and of preceding forms of municipal government in the city since 1889. It is located on the eastern side of the city’s George Square. It is a Category A listed building.
The building is in the Beaux arts style, an interpretation of the Renaissance Classicism incorporating Italianate styles with a vast range of ornate decoration, used to express the wealth and industrial export-led economic prosperity of the Second City of the Empire.
The building was used as a stand in for the British Embassy in Moscow in the film An Englishman Abroad in 1983, and as the Vatican in Heavenly Pursuits in 1986. It was also used for the film The House of Mirth in 2000 and featured more recently in the television series Outlander.
Pendrich’s specialists used steeplejack and rope access techniques to remove vegetation and repoint masonry at the Glasgow City Council headquarters.
PTSG (and Pendrich) uses industrial rope equipment to service buildings and structures of all kinds, built in different eras for hugely diverse functions. Due to the unobtrusive nature of industrial rope access, certain buildings, such as shopping centres, can remain operational during works. The visual integrity of historic buildings is also largely unaltered during rope access works.
