PTSG to make residences in Liverpool fire-safe

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has secured a contract to provide specialist fire solutions at residences in the city centre of Liverpool.

Camden Street is located in the city centre of Liverpool, close to Lime Street Station and the World Museum, and just along the road from the O2 Academy Liverpool. It features a number of historic townhouses, many of which are now used to accommodate students.

Liverpool boasts a number of higher education establishments including the University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University, the City of Liverpool College, Liverpool Institute of Higher Education and Hugh Baird College. Students account for 38.7% of the economically inactive population aged 16-24.

The University of Liverpool was established in 1881 as University College Liverpool, later becoming the federal Victoria University. Following a royal charter and act of Parliament in 1903, it became an independent university (the University of Liverpool) with the right to confer its own degrees. 

The university is mainly based around a single urban campus approximately five minutes’ walk from Liverpool City Centre, at the top of Brownlow Hill and Mount Pleasant. Occupying 100 acres, it contains 192 non-residential buildings that house 69 lecture theatres, 114 teaching areas and research facilities.

In this contract, engineers from PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd will deliver residential sprinklers to residences in Camden Street. Sprinkler systems are the most effective means of life and property protection available. Within domestic properties, the British standards are BS 9251:2014 for residential sprinklers and BS 8458:2015 for residential and domestic mist sprinkler systems.
