A new CPD-accredited training programme from NSS – a constituent company of Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) – is helping FM professionals stay ahead of critical regulatory changes in drainage compliance while boosting their professional development.
Launched in response to the updated British Standard BS 8490:2025, the training tackles the growing need for education around siphonic drainage regulations. These changes could impact up to 60% of UK commercial buildings with internal gutters, especially those built before 2000 or under now-outdated standards.
Led by Billy Gordon, NSS’s Head of Siphonic Drainage and SRDA member, the sessions cover key areas including compliance, risk assessments, upgrade strategies and real-world case studies.
The new standard responds to the sharp rise in rainfall volumes due to climate change, with regulators now requiring both primary and secondary drainage systems as standard.
With tailored, on-site delivery available nationwide, the programme allows facilities teams to gain CPD credits while tackling one of the sector’s most urgent building safety concerns. Garry Boyce of SAUR Services Glasgow called the training “incredibly worthwhile.”
As extreme weather becomes the norm, FM professionals need practical tools to keep buildings safe and compliant. This training delivers both.
