Welcome to Inside PTSG.

As documented in many of the leading FM publications, companies routinely consider first aid to protect the physical wellbeing of their staff, but mental health is rarely given the same thought.

Creating a mentally healthy and productive workplace requires a holistic approach, with mental health training that helps individuals practice self-care, manage stress and maintain wellbeing. For a number of years PTSG has treated mental and physical health as one. Its Health and Safety leaders began delivering Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training in 2019, before COVID first took hold.

The Group has 40 Mental Health First Aid Trainers, who are qualified through Mental Health First Aid England. The aim is to give everyone of our 2,700+ people easy access to a mental health expert to talk in confidence about any issues they are experiencing so that they can receive the expert help they need. I look forward to keeping you up to date with this aspect of our work in this newsletter.

In this, our 100th issue of Inside PTSG, we take a closer look at smoke and fire dampers. Testing and inspection, servicing and maintenance of these passive fire assets forms a crucial part of our provision in PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd.

Extraordinary Buildings describes the work of our Access & Safety engineers at Brighton City Airport, which has a beautiful Grade II listed art deco terminal building. It is a privilege to work on such buildings and play our part in their effective operation.

I wish you all the best and look forward to keeping you informed of further updates from throughout the Group.

Best wishes

Project: PTSG and Longhurst Homes

We understand the numerous legislative and compliance objectives our customers in social housing must adhere to and it is our objective to de-risk them.

Insight: Smoke and Fire Dampers

Fire and smoke dampers are located in the ductwork system of a building, at any point where the ductwork breaches the fire compartment.
