Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialist fire solutions at one of the leading universities in Yorkshire.

The public research university is the tenth-largest university in the United Kingdom by total enrolment and receives over 68,000 undergraduate applications per year, making it the fourth-most popular university (behind Manchester, University College London and King’s College London) in the UK by volume of applications.

In this contract, engineers from PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd will provide fire stopping and fire doors to five sites within the university.

Delivering these services across five student accommodation blocks brings several challenges. Works must be scheduled tightly around term times and occupancy levels to minimise disruption to students, particularly during exam or move-in periods. Gaining access to individual flats and rooms can be difficult, requiring close coordination with accommodation management and effective communication with students. Sites may each have different layouts, existing conditions, and previous alterations, meaning survey and remediation needs vary across blocks. Maintaining consistent quality and compliance across multiple sites while working to programme deadlines requires strong project management and resourcing.
