To manage the contract delivery of lightning protection/earthing system test, inspection, and installation for a large-scale project, ensuring adherence to the highest levels of safety and quality throughout a project, on-time and to budget completion.

Key Accountabilities (major end results the job is expected to achieve):

  • Lead the development of operational plans that will deliver specified LP/earthing systems on time and to budget.
  • Managing the resource requirements for multiple projects (across site) on a daily basis throughout the duration of the project, finding solutions to changing requirements and conflicting priorities
  • Maintain accurate work records and logs ensuring these are checked when supplying information for invoicing, making payments, providing payroll data etc.
  • Be the primary day to day contact for the Engineers on site, ensuring they have the necessary training, materials, safe working methods and job specific information to consistently deliver quality workmanship for the customer.
  • Together with the Power Earthing Director, continually look for improvement opportunities by ensuring problems are resolved with pro-active actions being taken to avoid the reoccurrence of identified issues.
  • Develop and maintain a reliable and extensive network of suppliers who PTSG can partner with as and when required.
  • Produces or contribute to relevant management reports on an on-going basis.

  • Power Earthing is the most profitable businesses in the Group and has been working nationally since the acquisition of BEST Services Ltd and the subsequent organisational restructuring.
  • Standards are exacting and there must be a strong focus on customer service. Requirements on a project can change, so a ‘can do’ attitude, out of the box thinking, and flexibility is key.

Role Dimensions:

  • Manager of a large multi discipline contract, utilising resource within the power earthing team (and wider group) – when necessary – to deliver each aspect of the contract in a safe and timely manner, in line with the customer’s requests and requirements.

Person Profile (Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill, and Experience):

  • Substantial operations experience in a similar environment (electrical/construction/large building projects)
  • Management/supervisory experience in a similar environment
  • Personal CSCS card, knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
  • Team player able to collaborate with multiple players internally (Sales, HO functions etc.)
  • Strong customer service orientation, very capable of communicating and influencing people at all levels.
  • Knowledge of LP/Power Earthing/Electrical installation, including the relevant British standards would be beneficial.
  • Computer literacy essential (working with Microsoft Word docs, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • AutoCAD training (would be advantageous but not necessary)
  • Local to Hinkley Point Power Station essential (within 1 hour commute time)

Organisation Structure (place in the organisation):

Reports to the National Power Earthing Director who in turn reports to the MD, Lightning Protection/Earthing Installations.
