PTSG’s Covid-19 portal readies its workforce for controlled return to work

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has taken the initiative in preparation for a controlled return to work on Monday 27th April 2020. The Group has developed a unique online portal, enabling all its people to securely undergo a rigorous induction for new operating procedures and risk assessments in accordance with the latest Covid-19 guidelines.

The Group has been closely following advice from the government and Public Health England since the start of the outbreak in the UK, mobilising back office, administrative and management functions for home-working in mid-March, with all site work suspended shortly afterwards. While this was a difficult decision, it was taken because the health, safety and wellbeing of staff, customers and supply chain must come first.

Following a collaboration between the Construction Leadership Council (CLC), the government and Public Health England, a set of site operating procedures has now been developed to protect workers when they return to sites across the UK. In step with this development, PTSG has created a highly innovative and secure online portal to ensure all staff are prepared for the new procedures well ahead of the controlled return to work.

The portal has been designed so that each individual is briefed and prepared on procedures for their specialist service area, whether he/she is an engineer from one of PTSG’s four business divisions or works in a Group-wide capacity. An electronic sign-in enables their progress to be tracked, including the length of time they have spent reviewing the documentation. Only when this process is complete and a certificate has been issued, will they commence working.

PTSG is well known throughout the construction and FM sectors for obsessing on the health and safety of its people and everyone who comes into contact with its work. It’s an approach which was recently recognised with a RoSPA Gold Medal, signifying at least five consecutive Golds (eight in PTSG’s case).

Paul Teasdale, Chief Executive of PTSG, commented: “The coronavirus pandemic is unprecedented and there is no certainty as to how long it will take for life to return to normal. That’s why we monitor the situation continuously, especially advice and guidelines from the government and senior health officials. This has enabled us to be proactive in creating new working practices that we can brief through the new portal – an innovative system that has been developed by our in-house team.

“The controlled return on Monday 27th April means that we can continue to deliver work for our 20,000 customers across all four business divisions once more. We will carry on monitoring the situation closely and we will be proactive with regard to further steps, which will safeguard the wellbeing of everyone involved in our access and safety, electrical services, building access and fires solutions work.”

PTSG to deliver specialist services at HMP Durham

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to provide specialist electrical services at HMP Durham.

HM Prison Durham is a Georgian era reception Category B men’s prison, located in the Elvet area of Durham in County Durham, England. Built in 1819, the prison continues to be operated by Her Majesty’s Prison Service. Since 2005 it has been a male-only prison. It holds around 1,000 inmates.

Engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd will test and inspect the lightning protection system in place at the prison. Work includes verifying the installation is operating in accordance with the correct specification and compliant with all current legislation.

PTSG is one of the UK’s leading providers of design, installation, testing, inspection and maintenance of lightning protection and surge protection systems. During the inspections it carries out, the mechanical condition of all conductors, bonds, joints and earth electrodes is checked and the observations noted. Covid-19 Update – PTSG to make a controlled return on 27th April 2020

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) is to commence a controlled return to work across all four of its business divisions from Monday 27th April 2020, after receiving safe working guidance.

Earlier this month, the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) formed a task force to provide a focal point for co-ordinating the building industry response to Covid-19 and to facilitate communication between the industry and government. This task force has now taken government and Public Health England guidelines on safe working practices during the pandemic and developed site operating procedures designed to protect workers.

This collaborative procedure has given PTSG the clear direction it needs, as a business, to operate safely. Engineers from across the Group will go through an induction for new operating procedures and risk assessments. The inductions will be undertaken electronically, via a secure web link; an electronic sign-in will enable each individual’s progress to be tracked, including the length of time they have spent reviewing the documentation. Only when this process is complete and a certificate has been issued, will they commence working.

PTSG’s business restart process will be managed around customer requirements, listening to its people and ensuring safe working environments. The Group will work with customers to make sure their compliance requirements are delivered by PTSG’s frontline team, whilst those who can work from home will continue to do so.

PTSG has consistently maintained throughout this public health emergency that its priority is to protect its people from Covid-19, follow all government advice in tackling the virus, and ensure sustainable business continuity. There is absolute confidence that these new working practices will strike the right balance.

Paul Teasdale, PTSG’s Chief Executive, said: “I would like to thank all our customers, supply chain and people for their patience and cooperation over the last few weeks. This has been the biggest challenge we could have imagined and we are pleased to be making a controlled return to work, adhering to guidance from the government, senior health officials and the CLC. I would ask customers to please co-ordinate any questions and requirements through your normal point of contact here at PTSG.”
