PTSG protects MHA Care Group

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has added MHA Care Group to its list of clients, completing a range of lightning protection services for the charity.

Since securing the contract with MHA Care Group in 2017, PTSG has delivered preventative maintenance services to lightning protection installations at 160 MHA sites across the UK.

MHA is a charity providing care, accommodation and support services for more than 17,000 older people throughout Britain. The independent charity, which celebrated its platinum anniversary in 2013, established its first residential care home in 1945. It now operates 88 care homes from South Lanarkshire in Scotland across to Aberystwyth in Wales and down to Cornwall in the south west.

PTSG’s Electrical Services division has provided lightning protection services, including supply, design, install and maintenance, to a variety of residential care homes across the UK. A key feature of the division’s success in this field is its ability to provide fully-engineered systems to a wide range of buildings whilst remaining sympathetic to the structures’ aesthetics.

PTSG secures PPM contact with Nottingham University NHS Trust

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has been awarded a contract to provide planned preventative maintenance (PPM) services across the Nottingham University NHS Trust.

The work will see specialist engineers from PTSG’s Electrical Services division providing PPM services that include lightning protection and earthing disciplines at a number of sites for the trust, which is based in the heart of Nottingham.

Nottingham University NHS Trust sites include the Queen’s Medical Centre, which houses a major trauma centre, Nottingham Children’s Hospital and the University of Nottingham’s School of Nursing and Medical School, as well as Nottingham City Hospital and Ropewalk House.

PTSG has more than two decades of experience in the design, installation and testing of lightning protects and earthing systems and is a member of the Association of Technical Lightning & Access Specialists (ATLAS). The group’s Electrical Services division has developed an outstanding reputation for specialist service provision in the healthcare sector and has previously worked at over 400 NHS sites nationwide.

New fall protection British Standard given helping hand by PTSG

Premier Technical Services Group PLC’s (PTSG) Access and Safety division has helped collaborate on the development and implementation of a new British Standard in fall protection anchor systems.

Nick Hayes, director of PTSG Access Testing, sits on the British Standards Institute (BSI) committee and has been working with other industry experts to develop BS 8610 Standard, which applies to the design of fall protection anchor systems.

BS 8610 clarifies, for the first time, that an anchor system starts from the fixings to the base material, all the way through to the anchor point for attachment of personal protective equipment (PPE). An anchor system is often formed of multiple elements, however, previous anchor design guidance has only considered the final element, where PPE is attached.

The new standard was officially published in November 2017 and is now in use across the fall protection industry. Discussing the release of the new standard, Nick said: “After more than two years of research and development we have completed the release of BS 8610. This new standard sets requirements and testing principles for rescue, evacuation, abseil rail and abseil davit anchor systems which were not covered in previous standards.

“BS 8610 is aimed primarily at manufacturers of anchor systems, however, the revision of the standard BS7883, which is the fall protection anchor systems standard aimed at system designers, installers and inspectors has now begun. This will take in the new guidance introduced by BS8610 as well as being updated for anchors conforming to BSEN 795.

“I’m very proud to have played a pivotal role, on behalf of PTSG, in the development and implementation of this important industry benchmark and I believe it will be extremely beneficial to manufacturers and installers, providing in-depth information on a range of anchor systems.”

PTSG’s Access and Safety division specialises in the planned preventative and statutory testing and maintenance of all types of fall protection systems and suspended access equipment. Through organic growth and a number of strategic acquisitions, the Group has grown rapidly to become the UK’s leading access and safety service provider.

PTSG secures lightning protection contract at Battersea Power Station

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has secured an order to provide lightning protection system installation at Phase two of a development project at Battersea Power Station.

Specialist engineers from PTSG’s Electrical Services division will attend the power station to provide a new lightning protection system to the existing power station structure. The new system will keep building users protected in the event of a lightning strike.

The Phase two installation is one of PTSG’s biggest lighting protection schemes to date and as such will require regular weekly attendances from both management and engineers to ensure the client receives the high level of service that is synonymous with the division’s work.

As part of an extensive redevelopment, the Grade II* listed Battersea Power Station and surrounding area is being brought back to life as a mixed-use neighbourhood. The first phase of the scheme consisted of 12 high rise residential blocks to the west of the 39-acre site. Phase two of the development includes new retail space adjacent to the power station’s two turbine halls, as well as commercial office space and residential apartments.

Last year PTSG’s engineers completed the lightning protection installation on the Battersea Power Station Phase one project, which commenced in March 2014. The Group has also recently secured contracts to perform several installations at residential and commercial developments in London and the South-east.

PTSG returns to work for DWP with fall arrest contract renewal

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has received an order to provide fall arrest testing services for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

Operatives from PTSG’s specialist Access and Safety division will attend more than 100 buildings currently used by the DWP, to provide testing, inspections, refurbishment and replacement of existing fall arrest equipment, including guard rails, fixed ladders, anchor points and abseil bolts. The equipment is installed to provide protection to anyone carrying out high-level works at the sites.

DWP is responsible for welfare and pensions policy in the UK and is recognised as the country’s largest government department. As the UK’s biggest public service department, it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to around 18 million claimants and customers.

PTSG completes a large portfolio of projects for government organisations such as the NHS, the Police and Fire services and local authorities, providing niche specialist services utilising a range of access techniques to complete works at height. The group currently provides electrical services to Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland and also delivers maintenance works for hundreds of hospitals across the UK.

PTSG renews fall arrest contract with Morrisons

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has renewed a contract to provide fall arrest testing services for UK supermarket giant Morrisons.

PTSG’s Access and Safety division will attend the company’s nationwide portfolio of supermarkets to inspect, test, refurbish and replace existing fall arrest equipment, including guard rails, fixed ladders, anchor points and abseil bolts, which are in place to support anyone carrying out works-at-height.

PTSG has developed an excellent collaborative partnership with Morrisons, and has provided specialist services to the retailer for several years. 2017 saw the Group carry out one of its largest ever projects for the company’s Chingford supermarket, where operatives replaced and installed over 500m of handrail.

Morrisons is the fourth largest chain of supermarkets in the UK, with 498 stores nationwide. PTSG’s Access and Safety division provides fall arrest services for a range of other high-profile retailers including DFS, The Co-operative Group and M&S, a collaboration which led to PTSG receiving the top Partners in Retail award at PFM’s 2016 Partnership Awards.

PTSG strengthens partnership in Gibraltar

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has completed an installation of mansafe systems at St Bernard’s Hospital in Gibraltar, strengthening its ongoing partnership with the overseas-based client.

Specialist operatives from PTSG’s Access and Safety division attended St Bernard’s Hospital to provide the installation of walkway systems which will accommodate access to the hospital’s roof. The team also installed additional mansafe systems on the site’s plantroom walkways.

This project is in addition to an existing contract the Group has with the hospital, where it has provided annual testing to fall arrest systems since 2008. St Bernard’s is the only civilian general hospital in Gibraltar and is operated by the Gibraltar Health Authority, a department of the Government of Gibraltar.

In recent years, PTSG has increased its delivery of work outside the UK, completing projects at many unique sites and in the process building partnerships with some prestigious international clients. As well as St Bernard’s Hospital the Group has an ongoing partnership with Iraqi telecoms provider FastIraq, delivering remedial and repair works via rope access. The company also currently delivers remedial works to roof and chimney structures in the Caribbean for Barbados’s sole electricity utility provider, Barbados Light and Power.

PTSG provides safe harbour with Wharves Deptford contract

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has secured a contract to provide fire protection installations at a regeneration scheme in Deptford, South-east London.

Trading update and appointment of new NED

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (“PTSG” or the “Group”), the niche specialist services provider, is pleased to announce that its results for the year ended 31 December 2017 are anticipated to be in line with the Board’s expectations.

In addition, the Board expects that the results for the year ended 31 December 2018 will be materially ahead of current market forecasts. This reflects the strength of the Group’s order book and successful integration, and ongoing progress at its recently acquired businesses.

The Board is also pleased to confirm that the integration of the ‘Best’ Lightning Protection business acquired on 4 July 2017 has progressed very well and is nearly complete.

Furthermore, the UK Sprinklers business we acquired in September 2017 has been fully integrated into the Group and is trading 50% ahead of the acquired business with a very strong order book and pipeline.

PTSG notes the recent statement from Carillion PLC which was placed into liquidation yesterday.  The annual value of work which the Group undertakes on behalf of Carillion is c.£0.8m and it is expected that this work will be taken on by existing PTSG clients; therefore the ongoing effect on the Group is expected to be minimal.  Given PTSG’s highly diversified customer base, the Board expects that there will be no material impact on 2018 trading.   The Group has outstanding net debt of £0.3m due from Carillion and this has been fully accounted for in the Group’s 2017 Balance Sheet.

The Group’s final results for the year ended 31 December 2017 will be announced on Tuesday 20th March 2018.

PTSG is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael James Higgins, aged 61, as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 16 January 2018.  He will join both the Audit and Remuneration Committees.

Mr Higgins is currently the chairman or non-executive director of three listed companies, namely Ebiquity plc, Plant Heath Care plc and Progility plc and has further non-executive interests in a range of private companies.  Michael previously was Chairman of the Quoted Companies Alliance (“QCA”). After reading economics and politics at Cambridge, Michael qualified as an accountant at Price Waterhouse. Following international banking experience with Saudi International Bank he joined Charterhouse, the merchant bank, in 1984. Michael became a KPMG Partner from 1996 to 2006, remaining a senior adviser for a further five years.

John Foley, Chairman of PTSG, comments:

“Our strong performance reflects the success of our strategy to seek market dominance through organic growth and carefully selected acquisitions. We have a healthy pipeline of potential acquisitions to complement our unique business model, and will continue to appraise opportunities as they arise.

“I am very pleased to welcome Michael onto the Board.  He brings a wealth of experience and his long-standing involvement with AIM and growth companies together with his experience at the QCA will prove invaluable.”
