This month we speak to Brian Whittaker, one of our Access and Safety division’s Business Development Managers, to learn a bit about his role and life outside of work.

At work

I am a Business Development Manager for fall protection installs in the Access and Safety division, and am responsible for finding new work and developing relationships with existing clients in our sector. I’ve been in the fall protection industry for 25 years and first joined PTSG in 2011, re-joining again last December after a short time away.

My current role is totally different from my previous work; I began as an install technician, working my way up to supervisor and into contract management. I’ve found that the sales side of the business is not as easy as it first looks! I enjoy the variety of my current job, and being self-managed brings different challenges to overcome. My daily tasks can vary from estimating and working on tenders to meeting clients and visitng new businesses.

At home

I’m married and have one daughter. In my spare time, I enjoy motorcycling and going on holiday. I bought a new motorbike at the end of last year but I’ve hardly used it yet – my wife doesn’t like me riding when we have holidays booked, in case I have an accident and it cancels our plans!
