Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has completed the upgrade of essential safety equipment to Newbury Town Council’s historic headquarters.

Newbury Town Hall is a distinctive building that dominates the town’s Market Place and is one of its most prominent buildings. The Town Hall’s clock tower is a much-loved landmark that can be seen from a distance. In September 2016 the Town Hall was hit by an ‘extreme’ bolt of lightning to the north of the building.

Following the lightning strike, Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG)’s Electrical Services Division was contracted by Newbury Town Council to upgrade the existing lightning protection system and surge installation at the Town Hall, to bring the systems up to relevant compliance standards.

The recently completed contract saw PTSG’s specialist team utilising a 35 metre truck mounted access unit to carry out the work. The team worked in close collaboration and was involved in project meetings with the client and other stakeholders to obtain the necessary permissions and licenses required, as well as effectively communicating the nature of the work to interested parties, in order to deliver the project.

PTSG’s Electrical Services division provides a wealth of maintenance services for many local authorities across the UK, working on a range of municipal buildings. The division was recently awarded a contract to provide a new lightning protection system installation at Westminster City Hall in Victoria, London SW1.
