Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has been commissioned to upgrade lightning protection systems at Hascombe Stud, a horse breeding farm in Newmarket, Suffolk.
Following a survey of the existing lightning protection systems, PTSG’s electrical services engineers concluded an upgrade was required as the existing systems, where fitted, were beyond their serviceable life, and to ensure the safety of the farm’s stables and buildings in the event of a lightning strike.
The new system will be installed in conjunction with several roof and chimney repairs taking place at the stables, and works will be phased accordingly. Systems will be installed in accordance with the international standard for Early Streamer Emission (ESE) Devices (NFC 17-102) compliance standards.
Hascombe Stud is a 290-acre stud farm owned by British diamond dealer and racehorse owner Anthony Oppenheimer. In 2012, the farm foaled Golden Horn, a talented racehorse who won the Epsom Derby and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in 2015, while ridden by Italian jockey Frankie Dettori.
PTSG has a proud history of performing works in the horseracing industry. The Group’s Electrical Service’s division looks after the maintenance of numerous buildings for the Godolphin Stables company, and has performed electrical testing and lightning protection repairs at Doncaster Racecourse. A team from the Access and Safety division has also provided a fall protection system to assist a refurbishment project at the Grandstand of Epsom Downs Racecourse.
