Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has delivered a rope access team to Battery Point Power Station in Stornoway to carry out high-level work at three of the station’s chimneys.
Battery Point Power Station is the principal source of electrical power for Lewis and Harris. Its chimneys are currently being extended and upgraded as part of a significant refurbishment project to ensure that residents in these remote locations have a steady and reliable power supply at all times.
The project involves the removal and replacement of the chimneys’ internal steel liners, and is being carried out in phases to ensure that the power station remains operational at all times.
PTSG’s highly skilled rope access team has extensive experience carrying out refurbishment and repair work to chimneys on challenging sites such as this one, including Drax Power Station in North Yorkshire and Lynemouth Power Station in Northumberland. The team has also travelled much further afield to carry out challenging painting work on chimneys for the Barbados Light and Power Company in Bridgetown.
