We catch up with Simon, our Software Development Manager, to see what he gets up to both inside and outside of work
In 2014 we launched MOUSE (Memorable, Outstanding, Unique, Service Experience), a unique customer service-driven initiative. Each month, MOUSE speaks to someone in our team about their life inside and outside of work.
This month, we speak to Simon, one of the Group’s software development managers, to get an insight into his life inside and outside work.
As PTSG’s software development manager, I’m currently involved in all stages of the design, development, testing and implementation of PTSG’s proprietary software solution, Clarity.
I have worked in the software development field for 12 years and have been developing Android and Apple apps for seven years. There are many challenges in the field of software development, especially when working on an inter-connected system such as Clarity. Ensuring the software is straightforward for both users of the Office system and users of the Android app must go hand-in-hand with intelligent design of the back-end systems that store and deliver the data. It can be difficult to ensure these elements fit together seamlessly, but our team’s experience in this field has helped Clarity tick these boxes.
Outside of the office, I like to travel and see new countries and I have a keen interest in horse racing and go to several of the top meetings a year. I play the guitar and played in an original band for 10 years, managing to fit touring and gigging around working, which had its own challenges!
