A pipe dream come true for PTSG

Premier Technical Services Group PLC’s (PTSG) most recent acquisition, UK Dry Risers Ltd, is ending 2016 on a high, having carried out a record number of installations this year. The total length of systems installed is enough to cover over 440 football pitches.

The company has installed over 29 miles of galvanised steel pipe in total throughout the year, seeing a boost from its introduction to PTSG’s broad and varied customer base. The pipes have been installed on a variety of contracts nationwide, with projects completed at several converted historic buildings, luxury developments, hotels and shopping centres, among many others.

Dry and wet riser systems are specially designed fire-suppression systems required in high-rise commercial and residential buildings. The risers are used to distribute water throughout all levels of the buildings in the event of a fire, allowing fire rescue teams to fight fires from outside multi-storey buildings.

With the acquisition of UK Dry Risers Ltd, PTSG’s electrical services division now provides a complete fire services solution, helping to ensure the safety of electrical equipment, installing and maintaining emergency lighting and installing systems like these to protect buildings of all sizes from fire.

PTSG attends Standsted’s newest hotel

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has completed the installation of fire safety systems at a brand new hotel at Stansted Airport.

The Hampton by Hilton hotel will create 8,670 m2 of accommodation space across 357 bedrooms when it opens in 2017. As the UK’s fourth busiest and fastest growing airport, Stansted requires a large portfolio of facilities to accommodate the 22 million passengers who fly from it every year, and this will be the fifth hotel to open at the airport.

The Group’s skilled engineers installed two dry riser systems to the hotel, which can be used by fire rescue teams to distribute water throughout all storeys in the building in the event of a fire, without having to risk attempts to access upper levels in the hotel.

PTSG’s dry and wet riser division is one of the leading installers of these systems in the UK, and has carried out installations at high-profile sites such as the Olympic Stadium in London and Anfield football stadium.

PTSG roped in for the Stratosphere once more

Premier Technical Services Group PLC’s (PTSG) rope access teams have returned to the Stratosphere in London to carry out a clean of the 39-storey building.

When completed, the Stratford development will be largely dedicated to residential space, with a range of retail and office accommodation between the ground and second floors. The building also features a private roof-top garden for residents, surrounded by a semi-enclosed roof terrace.

PTSG’s high level cleaning division gave the 123m tower’s windows a full clean, first producing a fine hand-rubbed finish with pumice, before giving them a final clean. The use of pumice will help in keeping the building clean as construction continues through to the development’s completion, so when the time comes for residents to move in, there will be no need for an extended clean.

PTSG’s expertise in using a variety of techniques to access high and hard to reach places have led to the site’s main contractor offering further specialist work, having already installed lightning protection to the Stratosphere. As a result of its varied service provision, PTSG often carries out a number of services on each site for its clients, providing a convenient and cost-effective approach to specialist works.

PTSG carries out fire service installation at West Quay Shopping Centre

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has successfully undertaken work to improve the fire safety systems at a busy shopping centre in Southampton.

WestQuay is an 800,000ft2 shopping centre which is home to 150 shops and is visited by over 16 million shoppers every year. The site required extensive alterations and extensions to its dry riser systems to ensure that employees and shoppers are adequately protected in the event of a fire, and dry riser systems are the most efficient method for firefighters to tackle fires in such large buildings.

The Group’s engineers worked tirelessly throughout the night to ensure that the centre’s operations could continue as normal, as there is rarely a dip in footfall during the centre’s opening hours.

PTSG has a great deal of experience carrying out work for retail clients, having just announced securing a multi-disciplinary contract for Debenhams, building on its many existing contracts for the country’s largest retailers across its electrical services, access and safety and high level cleaning divisions.

2016 Business Round Up

2016 has been another exceptional year for Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG), with the Group continuing to build its reputation for providing an outstanding customer service, an unyielding commitment to health and safety, and the drive for impressive business growth.

Health and safety always takes precedence in everything PTSG does, and this year the Group won an international safety award from the British Safety Council, as well as a RoSPA Gold Award for its excellent health and safety standards, making this the fifth consecutive year the company has been recognised by both organisations. PTSG’s strong reputation for safe working also resulted in it taking pride of place on the front cover of PFM magazine’s April issue, with an article on its safe working at height practices.

Other industry publications have been abuzz about PTSG’s work this year, with numerous mentions of impressive contract wins, accreditations and awards. In particular, the Group’s bespoke software programme, PTSG Clarity, really got the industry talking, with features detailing its success in This Week in FM and PFM magazine. There was even a mention of a PTSG van’s role as an extra in the BBC’s one-off Goodnight Sweetheart special!

Other than its acting debut, the company has had further brushes with fame this year, not least with PTSG’s MOUSE making the acquaintance of Alexander Armstrong. Thousands of PTSG’s customer service mascots attended FM industry awards ceremonies this year, and the Pointless host took a particular liking to the Group’s squeaky mascot.

PTSG received several shortlistings at the industry’s most esteemed awards ceremonies in 2016, and in November walked away with two PFM Partnership awards for its work with Marks & Spencer and SES Engineering Services. PTSG CEO Paul Teasdale also had another solid year, after being named the IOD’s Director of the Year and the Yorkshire Post’s Entrepreneur of the Year.

As for business performance, PTSG is stronger than ever, reporting solid growth and hundreds of impressive contract wins throughout 2016. Its acquisition of UK Dry Risers and UK Dry Risers Maintenance in July has added yet another specialist service to the Group’s portfolio, and introduced the benefits of its bundled service provision to many new customers. The contract renewal rate now stands at 88 per cent – the highest yet achieved in the Group’s nine-year history.

Having already published a strong interim report earlier this year detailing impressive organic growth and high returns, PTSG looks forward to continuing this trend well into 2017.

We would like to wish you all – customers, supply chain partners, stakeholders, our people and media contacts – a very merry Christmas and a happy and successful New Year!

PTSG to carry out multiple services at John Radcliffe Hospital

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has secured a contract for two of its specialist divisions to undertake work at John Radcliffe Hospital.

The hospital, located on the outskirts of Oxford, is a leading teaching hospital, partnering with the University of Oxford to create one of the UK’s first biomedical research centres in 2007.

A skilled, multi-disciplinary team from PTSG’s access and safety and electrical services divisions will carry out cradle maintenance and portable appliance testing at the hospital, making sure that all staff and patients remain as safe as possible at all times.

This is just one of the many hospitals for which PTSG has carried out work, with experience in carrying out services across several disciplines at hospitals across the country. The Group has twice been shortlisted in the PFM awards’ Partners in Healthcare category, highlighting its commitment to carefully planning and timing works at healthcare facilities, reducing any disruption to a minimum.

PTSG installs dry risers at art deco luxury apartments

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has installed three dry riser systems at a redeveloped art deco building in Salford Quays.

The Dock Office building, at the entrance to Salford’s old docks, has been transformed from an office block into 67 luxury apartments, having also received a two-storey extension. The Grade II listed building was originally built in 1927, but was left empty following the closure of the docks in 1982.

Due to its proximity to MediaCityUK, the block is in an ideal location to create new residential space. The population of the area surrounding MediaCityUK has grown rapidly in recent years, following moves from the BBC and ITV to the new site, creating thousands of jobs.

PTSG retro-fitted three dry riser systems to the building which, due to its original construction date, did not meet the requirements for a modern building of this height. Following this installation, the building and its residents will be much more easily protected in the event of a fire.

PTSG protects Chelsea Island

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has been contracted to install a lightning protection system to a brand-new luxury development in Sands End, which lies between the London Boroughs of Fulham and Chelsea.

The area around Chelsea Island has become home to many luxury developments, transforming a site that was formerly the home of a Victorian railway coaling dock, and the Lots Road power station, which was decommissioned in 2002. Chelsea Island will create 89 high-end apartments with between one and four bedrooms, private rooftop courtyards and outdoor spaces for residents to enjoy.

PTSG’s electrical services engineers have a great deal of experience working on large, new developments like this one, and will design, supply and install this new lightning protection system installation to the BSEN 62305 standard.

PTSG’s electrical services division provides a range of services, including a complete package of lightning protection works. The Group’s engineers handle the design, supply, installation, inspection, testing and maintenance services for all lightning protection systems UK-wide from its 16 strategically-located service centres.

PTSG installs lightning protection at historic London site

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has secured an order to install lightning protection to a newly redeveloped auction house adjacent to the Old Spitalfields Market.

The London Fruit and Wool Exchange was originally built in 1929, but has recently undergone a £200 million redevelopment, creating 320,000 sq ft of grade A office and retail space, whilst retaining the original building’s façade.

The Group’s experienced engineers installed the lightning protection systems to the British and European standards, ensuring the safety of all contractors working on site, and the effectiveness of the system in the future.

PTSG has built a reputation in the industry for being able to design and install lightning protection at even the most complex sites. The Group has installed protection systems at several other large developments in the capital, as well as maintaining frameworks with some of the country’s best-known retailers and institutions.

The sky’s the limit for PTSG at Manchester Airport

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) secured an order to carry out a range of specialist testing services for Manchester Airport.

Manchester Airport is the UK’s third busiest airport, seeing over 23 million passengers travelling to around 225 destinations across the globe every year. The airport is set to undergo a £1 billion development project, which hopes to double this passenger number by 2050.

PTSG will carry out testing of the airport’s lightning protection systems, fall arrest systems and dry risers, making sure all of the airport’s staff and customers remain as safe as possible at all times. The Group’s bundled service offering allows it to offer competitively-priced niche specialist services by streamlining the testing of a wide range of equipment in the most efficient way possible. This multi-disciplinary offering has proved successful for PTSG, contributing to its impressive 88 per cent contract renewal rate.

The Group has a strong reputation for being able to carry out work in airports’ high-pressure environments. Other notable contracts to carry out niche specialist services at airports include lightning protection installations at Doha International Airport, and fall arrest installation and maintenance at Heathrow and Aberdeen International, among many others.
